Beijing, July 24 (IANS) A Chinese man hid his father's death for half a year so that he could claim his pension.
Li, whose father died in January due to cardiovascular disease, has been detained for alleged fraud, reported Shanghai Daily citing Beijing Daily.
Li, who is unemployed, did not report the death so that he could continue to claim his father's 2,700 yuan (US$423) monthly pension.
He instead hid the body in his home.
When his brother came to meet his father, Li fought with him and drove him away. To neighbours, he said his father had travelled somewhere else.
Li's neighbours smelt the odour of a decomposing body and alerted police.
