Sultry Sunday marks end of rainless week, some hope next week

New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) Rain eluded Delhi the entire week with Sunday also ending on a humid note. However, the weatherman held out hope for the coming week with rain in its first three days.

"Light rains are expected Monday however heavy rain is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday," said an official of India Meteorological Department.

So far the capital has recorded a total rainfall of 88.6 mm. The rain deficit has grown to 57 percent.

The maximum temperature Sunday shot up to three notches above average at 37.3 degrees, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.5 degrees, two degrees over average. The humidity ran between a high and low of 83 percent and 54 percent,

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 37 and 28 degrees respectively on Monday.
