Stealth warship INS Sahyadri commissioned in naval ranks

Mumbai, July 21 (ANI): Defence Minster A.K.Antony on Saturday commissioned 'INS 'Sahyadri', a stealth warship armed with an array of missiles, at the Naval dockyard here.

'INS Sahyadri' was last in the series of stealth warships after 'INS Shivalik' and 'INS Satpura'.

Addressing mediapersons, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma, said that INS Sahyadri would add power to submarine warfare capabilities of the Navy.

"The induction of 'Sahyadri' was a portal weapon package with considerably enhanced warfare capability of the navy and to contribute towards ensuring our maritime security concerns," Admiral Verma said.

INS Sahyadri is the last warship of 'Project-17' undertaken by the Navy, which is equipped with advanced surface and air missiles of Russian, European and Israeli origin and can carry two helicopters onboard. (ANI)
