Docs happy with Boucher's 'eye-op'

Cape Town, July 20 (ANI): Doctors have said that former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher's retina is fine, and earlier reports of it being irreparably damaged, are not true.

Speaking after Boucher had undergone a second three-hour-long eye surgery at a clinic in Cape Town, the doctors said: "There were no complications, no bleeding and nothing else unexpected. The important parts of the retina were intact, confirming previous findings."

Sport24 further quoted them, as saying: "The blood which accumulated due to the trauma was removed. The outcome looks very positive and the surgeon is pleased with the procedure."

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has urged the media to respect Boucher's privacy and also the privileged relationship between the doctor and his patient.

"The Boucher family are extremely grateful for the support they have received from around the world and CSA will keep Mark's well-wishers informed as and when appropriate information becomes available," CSA said in a statement. (ANI)
