Haridwar, July 20 (IANS) Balkrishna, the close aide of yoga guru Ramdev, was arrested at their ashram here Friday but not before some tense moments.
This followed a non-bailable warrant issued by a special CBI court in Dehradun regarding alleged fake documents submitted to get a passport in his name.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials faced heavy resistance from Ramdev's followers at the Patanjali Yog Peeth on Haridwar's outskirts when they sought to arrest Balkrishna.
Eventually, amid heavy police presence, the CBI whisked him away in a car.
Slogan-shouting followers of Balkrishna tried to push and heckle the CBI team. Many even threw themselves before the officers.
A CBI official told IANS that after reaching Dehradun, Balkrishna would be produced before a court for further questioning in the fake passport case registered last year.
