Washington, July 20 (ANI): Star American swimmer Michael Phelps has given the thumbs down to Team USA swim caps that are to be used during the London 2012 Olympics.
Phelps complained about the rules on social site Twitter, which stated that swimmers could wear flags on only one side of the cap.
"Front and back of our caps... We used to be able to have front and back side with flags, but for some reason, there are rules that tell us we can't do that anymore? Smh gotta love an organizing committee telling us we can't do that anymore," CBS News quoted Phelps, as tweeting on Twitter.
The tweet included a link to a photo showing an old style flag cap white cap, with the flag and Phelps written under it in black letters, and placed next to it were the new plain ones with just a logo of 'Speedo'.
Phelps, who had won a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, wore a black swimming cap with his name and flag on both sides.
International swimming's governing body FINA issued the new same-side guidelines last year, which were also included in IOC rules for London posted in May. (ANI)
