Woman survives after being hit by plane propeller

Moscow, July 19 (IANS) A woman worker at an airport in Russia was injured but had a miraculous escape Thursday when she was hit by the propeller of an An-24 aircraft, RIA Novosti reported.

The accident took place at the Eniseysk airport in Krasnoyarsk region of central Russia, said a spokeswoman for the Eniseysk transport prosecutor's office.

The woman was hospitalised with injuries to her head, chest and arms.

Transport prosecutors are probing the incident that occurred when the An-24 plane was starting its engine before taking off to Kodinsk.

The injured woman is an employee of the airport's cleaning service.

"The woman did not turn away from the plane during engine ignition despite a technician's warning. As a result she was struck by the propeller," the spokeswoman said.
