Beijing, July 19 (IANS) A 63-year-old man in China became blind after being subjected to a horrific attack in which calcium oxide, popularly known as quick lime, and cement were poured into his eyes, a media report said Thursday.

The man was attacked in Miyang county in Henan province, the China Daily reported.

The man surnamed Huang said his eyes were filled with quick lime and cement after he was beaten up and dragged to a mountain near his home July 5.

A family feud is believed to be behind the attack.

A doctor said Huang's eyeballs need to be removed without delay to avert a threat to his life.

Those suspected of carrying out the attack have been arrested.
