Imphal, July 13 (ANI): Demanding that insurgents shun violence, Imphal residents here protested against a recent grenade attack on the residence of Yendrembam Jiten, head of the Khurai Kongpal Gram Panchayat.

"We are not happy, we strongly condemn such incidents and we want to tell them clearly not to repeat," Kunjeshwori Devi, a protestor, said.

The high intensity blast at Jiten's residence resulted in smashed windowpanes and windscreens

Three people, including Jiten's seven-month-old daughter, were injured.

The victims were admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

No group has taken responsibility for the attack yet, and there has been no monetary demand or threats from any outfit.

Interacting with mediapersons, Y Radharani Devi, Jiten's wife, said, "My baby got injured, and, I have no idea what these people are thinking. How can they do such things? I have no idea about any demand letter or any threatening us."

Over thirty insurgent groups are active in the region. They trigger blasts, undertake extortions and practice other unlawful activities, adding to the miseries of the people. (ANI)
