Gunmen attack at army camp kills seven, injures 5 near Islamabad

Islamabad, July 9 (ANI): Seven security personnel were killed and five others were injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on an army camp near Islamabad on Monday, the military has said.

The incident took place near the industrial city of Wazirabad, less than 150 kilometres southeast of the capital.

"At least seven security personnel including a police official embraced martyrdom and five others were injured due to firing by unknown assailants near Wazirabad," The Dawn quoted the military, as saying in a statement.

The statement added that the rescue party, which had been reportedly camping by a river to look for the body of a pilot missing in a helicopter crash in May, came under attack from "unknown assailants". (ANI)
