Islamabad, July 9 (IANS) A brand new abattoir faces closure in Pakistan's Rawalpindi city as the authorities forgot to build a drainage system.

The abattoir is on the verge of closure as the authorities did not construct a proper drainage system, reported Dawn.

The butchers said they started slaughtering animals in the new abattoir Thursday but faced difficulty as animal waste and water accumulated in the main hall.

After private sanitary workers were put on the job, it came to light that the authorities had forgotten to construct the drain necessary to clear out the waste and water accumulating during slaughtering.

Chaudhry Ishaq, who is the contractor of the abattoir, told the daily that drainage system had not been installed in the slaughtering hall.
