Islamabad, July 8 (ANI): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has strongly condemned the nation's government over the latest US drone strike in North Waziristan region of the country that killed 24 people, saying that the government was the responsible in the indiscriminate elimination of its citizens, as it had consciously avoided disclosing identification details of those killed in the drone strikes.
He said there was complete media censorship in the Tribal Areas and resultantly there was no way to ascertain the identities of those killed in these strikes and demanded that the government should disclose the identification details of the causalities, so that the people could know how many women, children and other civilians had died.
"Will any other nation or state of the world allow indiscriminate killing of its citizens? The fact that their identities were not disclosed casts serious doubts on the claims that those killed were militants," the Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.
He claimed that the latest drone attack spoke volumes about the so-called 'close working partnership' between Pakistan and the United States, in the ongoing war.
Khan said that the rulers of Pakistan had reopened the NATO supply routes against the sentiments of the people of Pakistan and bypassed parliamentary resolutions to appease the US and said that the continued drone assaults were a clear violation of international humanitarian laws.
"The rulers are blindly supporting the US claims of high precision drone strikes and minimum collateral damage while they are actually aware of the details of Pakistani civilian casualties in the Tribal Areas," Khan added. (ANI)
