Humid, cloudy Sunday in Delhi; rains likely Monday

New Delhi, July 8 (IANS) The capital's residents went through a cloudy and humid Sunday with no rains, but there was some relief due to a light breeze and the maximum temperature dipping three notches below average to 33.9 degrees Celsius. Rains are likely Monday.

The minimum temperature Sunday also dipped a notch below the average to 26.4 degrees Celsius, while humidity readings showed a high of 90 percent and a minimum was 60 percent.

No rainfall was recorded after 8.30 a.m. and 0.3 mm till then.

The Met department has predicted rain or thundershowers for Monday.

"Monday should have generally cloudy skies and rains or thundershowers may occur. The day's maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be 35 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively," said an official at India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

This year, the monsoon is expected to last till Sep 18 but its position might change, said the IMD.

Saturday's maximum temperature was six notches below average at 30.3 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 23.2, four notches below average.
