Kolkata, July 8 (ANI): Former captain of the Indian cricket team, Sourav Ganguly, celebrated his 40th birthday with his fans, here on Sunday.

Interacting with mediapersons, Ganguly said he would relax at home and spend time with his family.

"No plans. It is Sunday, so I'll stay at home and just have time off with family," he said.

The 'Prince of Kolkata' believed that there is a lot of young blood in the state and they must be encouraged.

"Manoj, Dinda and others, there are a lot of good cricketers in Bengal. Hopefully, they will get more opportunities," he said.

Commenting on the recent row over Virender Sehwag's remarks on captain M. S. Dhoni, Ganguly said that Sehwag was mature enough to know what he was saying.

"I believe Sehwag said that his statements were twisted, I haven't heard what Sehwag has said, haven't read it. I think Sehwag is mature enough not to say the wrong things, he is a great player and I don't think it should be twisted," he added.

Ganguly is the fifth highest run scorer in One Day Internationals (ODI) and the fifth batsman in cricket history to cross the 10,000- run mark. (ANI)
