Button sees British GP getting cancelled if rain-induced 'death trap' conditions persist

London, July 7(ANI): McLaren driver Jensen Button has predicted the British Grand Prix could get cancelled if the mayhem caused by rains at Silverstone persists.
Thousands of cars were stuck all day in queues approaching the Northamptonshire circuit, with traffic on the A43 stretching back for miles on Friday, and many fans couldn't even make it to the circuit due to the heavy downpour.
British Grand Prix organisers are strongly advising up to 30,000 fans to stay away from Silverstone on Saturday after heavy rain left public car parks waterlogged and thousands of fans stranded.
Button said afterwards that he could not see the race being allowed to go ahead if the rain kept on coming.
"You wouldn't want to be racing in those conditions. There's a lot of standing water. You have to memorise where the rivers are," The Telegraph quoted Button, as saying.
"One of the worst is the Hangar Straight before Stowe at 290 kph [180mph], suddenly you cross a river which gives you wheel spin and at that speed it can snap out of control easily. If it is like this in qualifying [the session] will go ahead because it's one car at a time," he added.
"But I can't see us being allowed to race in these conditions. You can look like a hero until you spin off and hit the wall," he said. (ANI)
