London, July 7 (ANI): Spain wants to follow up its Euro 2012 victory by stamping its authority over world football by winning gold at the London Olympics.

If Spain manages to win the men's Olympics final on August 11 at Wembley Stadium, it would become only the fourth team ever to hold both the World Cup and an Olympic title simultaneously after Uruguay, Italy and West Germany.

The World Cup champions won an unprecedented third straight major title when they became the first team to retain the European Championship with a 4-0 victory over Italy.

That triumph in Kiev, Ukraine, has provided an extra springboard of motivation for the Olympic squad, Sport24 reports.

Spain forward Iker Muniain said: "It would be nice to (win the games) after all they have achieved. We're starting an adventure that we're very motivated to get started on and finish with a medal."

Spain coach Luis Milla said the national team's Euro 2012 victory is a great source of inspiration for his players on the Olympic squad that includes three players from the winning team - Juan Mata, Javi Martinez and Jordi Alba stayed on for Poland and Ukraine. (ANI)
