London, July 7(ANI): Defender Kolo Toure has said Manchester City signs any player they want to in the transfer window, and added that the club should definitely sign his former Arsenal teammate Robin Van Persie.
Toure lauded the Gunners captain as a top player and a great man, and believes Van Persie could guide City to the Champions League trophy.
It is believed City manager Roberto Mancini has been a green light by the Etihad hierarchy to sign the Dutch international.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United are also keen on Van Persie, but Mancini is confident of landing him.
City is prepared to offer him a long-term deal worth around 220,000 pound a week and Toure is convinced the 28-year-old would be a huge success.
"Robin is a top player. I've played with him, I know him and he's a great man. At City we have great players and the club does what it wants in transfers," The Daily Star quoted Toure, as saying.
"But, for me, if Robin comes it's great because I know what he can do. You have to build your squad every year to do better. To win the Champions League is very difficult, as we have seen, but he could help us do it," he added. (ANI)
