London, July 5(ANI): The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is set to give its go-ahead to both the Hawk-Eye and GoalRef systems on Thursday, which would allow the Premier League and the FA to use them.
But there will still be a delay before either system can be used in competitive football with each needing to be licensed, installed and then tested in every venue, The Daily Star reports.
The IFAB, meeting in Zurich, will insist the technology is used only as an aid to referees to make a decision, rather than being the deciding factor in whether it's over the line.
Referees can decide not to award a goal based on what they see, even if the systems indicate the ball is in. (ANI)
