2 killed, 4 injured in attack on police vehicle in E. Pakistan

Islamabad, July 3 (Xinhua-ANI): At least two policemen were killed and four others got injured on Tuesday morning when some unknown gunmen attacked a police vehicle in Pakistan's eastern province of Punjab, local media reported.

According to local Urdu TV channel Dawn, the incident took place when a police party was going to raid a suspected hideout of criminals in the Jhang district in central part of the eastern Punjab province.

Police officials told local media that on getting the information about the presence of some dangerous absconders in a rural area of Jhang district a team of police commandos riding on four vehicles was sent to arrest them.

But when the police party reached near the area and started cordoning off the suspected hideout the criminals opened fire at a police vehicle.

All the six police personnel on board got injured in the attack.

They were quickly shifted to the hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries while four others were reported in stable condition.

After the attack on police mobile, cross fire started between police and criminals but the latter succeeded to run away from the area. (Xinhua-ANI)
