London, July 2 (ANI): UK police and border officers have arrested nine illegal Indian immigrants during a raid on a firm that makes Olympic torches.

The raids were carried out on Crown Polishing and Plating firm after it was suspected of employing illegal immigrants right under the noses of Games security staff.

The factory in Wolverhampton was raided in February after UK Border Agency officials became suspicious.

According to The Sun, the firm faces prosecution and a 50,000-pound fine.

A source at the firm said security staff supplied by Olympics organizers had been stationed there.

He added: "They count workers in and out, check how many torches are being worked on and they're all accounted for.

"What they didn't realize was there were illegal immigrants right under their noses," he added.

A London 2012 spokesman said: "The company was not directly contracted and the issue has been dealt with by the UK Border Agency." (ANI)
