London, July 2 (ANI): Sir Elton John has called for an end to violence against gay people following a spate of homophobic attacks in Euro 2012 host nation Ukraine.
The pop superstar, 65, criticised a planned new law banning talk about homosexuality in the eastern European country.
Speaking to fans at a gig in Kiev, he said: "People who are gay in Ukraine have been beaten up. And that for me is wrong," the Daily Star reported.
"It should never be a crime to be a different colour, or a different religion, or a different sexual orientation. We are all God's children," he added.
