Oz man reunites with high school sweetheart after 57 years

Melbourne, June 30 (ANI): An Australian man had no idea that placing an advertisement in a small English newspaper would lead him back to his high school sweetheart.

It is said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but surely almost 60 years would be too long for any heart.

But Tom Redmond, 73, who stays in Waterford West said that the wait had been more than worth it, the only problem he encountered was the fact that his beloved lived on the other side of the world.

Helen Bird, 73, sent Redmond a letter after seeing his name in the local paper and they have been in weekly contact ever since, the Courier Mail reported.

After 57 years apart, Redmond decided to meet her personally.

Visiting her in his old hometown of Kettering, and being reunited with his sisters and old friends was "a dream come true", was like a dream come true for him. (ANI)
