Pakistan hasn't backtracked on U.S. apology demand, says Defence Minister

Islamabad, June 29 (ANI): Pakistan Defence Minister Naveed Qamar has said that Pakistan had not backtracked on its demand of a U.S. apology over the Salala attack.

According to The News, Qamar said national interest would be kept in mind when determining relations with the U.S., adding that Pakistan wants to continue playing its role in the international community.

Ties between Pakistan and the U.S. became rocky after a NATO air strike killed 24 Pakistani soldiers last November. After the incident, Pakistan blocked the NATO routes carrying supplies to U.S. led troops in Afghanistan. Pakistan has sought an unconditional apology for the incident as a pre-condition to reopen the supply routes. America, however, has been reluctant in apologising. (ANI)
