Google unveils home entertainment system 'Nexus Q' to take on Apple TV

Washington, June 28 (ANI): Internet search giant Google has unveiled a small Android-powered computer called Nexus Q, which that can stream music and videos from other devices.

The spherical device, without its own screen, is meant to be plugged into a stereo and television system.

With the new device, Google plans to target the home entertainment market to take on Apple TV, Boxee, Roku and other devices, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The device connects to flat-panel televisions and stereo speakers to play music, movies or television shows from Google Play.

The Nexus Q, made in the United States, will retail for 300 dollars, according to the report.

The device will only be available at the outset in the United States and can be preordered at Google Play starting Wednesday and ships in mid July.

According to the report, Nexus Q is Google's latest effort to punch into Americans' living rooms. (ANI)
