Talks of Balochistan division 'political gimmick', says National Party leader

Islamabad, Thu, 28 Jun 2012 ANI

Islamabad, June 28 (ANI): The Pakistan National Party (NP) central general secretary has said the sloganeering for a Pakhtun province in Balochistan was merely a political point-scoring stunt.

"Creating differences between two brotherly ethnicities is unwise...If the Pakhtuns want their separate province or voluntary become part of Khyber Pakhtunkwa, we have no objection over it," The Nation quoted NP leader Tahir Bezinjo, as saying.

Bezinjo said historically Pakhtun areas of Balochistan had never remained part of Balochistan, thus the Pakhtun brothers were free to decide their future.

He added that accusing the Balochs of usurping Pakhtuns' rights was completely wrong, since the Baloch nation itself was oppressed and struggling for its own rights.

Bezinjo said, the NP, from the very beginning, believed in Baloch-Pakhtun unity and said it would play its role in strengthening brotherhood between the two nationalities. (ANI)
