Oz swimmer Rice prefers being 'dangerous wildcard' to 'hunted favourite' for London Olympics

London, June 28 (ANI): Australian star swimmer Stephanie Rice is lapping up the idea of being seen as a dangerous wildcard rather than a hunted favourite star in the London Olympics.

The triple Olympic champion digested the full landscape of contenders in the 400m individual medley in which American world champion Elizabeth Beisel is a hot favourite.

"Fast swim . . . Elizabeth is definitely the frontrunner along with (Brit) Hannah Miley and there's a gap to the next crew I'm sitting in," the Courier Mail quoted Rice, as saying.

"I'm happy to be in that top mix of six or so girls. That's a good place to be going into the Olympics," she added.

Rice is ranked No.4 in the world but only a fool would judge the gritty Queenslander out of the medal pace based on pure times after what all she has conquered just to get to London. (ANI)
