Loch Ness Monster touted as real in US school textbooks

London, June 26 (ANI): Thousands of students in US will be taught that the Loch Ness monster is a living dinosaur, trashing the theory of evolution.

Privately run Christian schools in Louisiana will be using textbooks from next year which states as fact that Nessie is real.

The Bible-bashing lessons also claim that a Japanese whaling boat caught a dinosaur --- just like the plot of hit movie Godzilla.

The books are published by Accelerated Christian Education-whose bosses back Old Testament creationism-for schools like Eternity Academy in Westlake which may claim government funds, the Sun reported.

One title, Biology 1099, questions children about dinosaurs: "Are dinosaurs alive today? Have you heard of the Loch Ness monster in Scotland? Nessie appears to be a plesiosaur."

But Nessie expert Tony Drummond, 47 -- who gives tours of Loch Ness-said: "It's ridiculous propaganda." (ANI)
