U.S. Navy research vessel begins 8-day visit to central Vietnamese port

Hanoi, June 22 (Xinhua-ANI): The U.S. Navy's research vessel, Roger Revelle, docked at Tien Sa Port in Vietnam's central Da Nang city on Friday morning, beginning its eight-day visit trip to the city, reported Vietnam News Agency Friday.
The mission was made under a cooperative program on oceanic research of the South China Sea and interaction of the sea and mainland between the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), according to the report.
During their stay, 28 U.S. officers and sailors will provide training courses for Vietnamese scientists and researchers in oceanic studies in service of the latter's oceanic research and management.
The vessel is scheduled to depart on June 29.
Roger Revelle belongs to the U.S. Navy and is run by the Scripps Oceanic Institute of the University of California in San Diego. The ship is equipped with modern facilities for oceanographic research. (Xinhua-ANI)
