Wellington (New Zealand), June 21 (Xinhua-ANI): New Zealand Energy and Resources Minister Phil Heatley will be discussing energy and offshore petroleum cooperation at two major international events this month.
Heatley will attend the 10th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Energy Ministers Meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia, on June 25 and 25.
"Global energy demand is forecast to increase by 40 percent between 2009 and 2035, and energy co-operation between members is an important agenda item for APEC," Heatley said in a statement.
"I'm looking forward to discussions with other ministers representing economies for whom energy is crucial."
Heatley would then attend the Ministerial Forum on Offshore Energy Safety in Norway, where ministers from countries with offshore petroleum activities would share information and developments on best practice with regulators and industry.
"The forum is an excellent opportunity for New Zealand to learn about the latest developments in offshore energy safety and to understand how Norway organizes its world-renowned petroleum industry," he said. (Xinhua-ANI)
