Phnom Penh, June 20 (ANI): A French architect has been arrested in Cambodia for alleged links with the scandal-hit Chinese politician Bo Xilai, the French Embassy and police has said.
According to The BBC, French officials said that they are trying to find the reason for the arrest of Patrick Devillers, 52.
Phnom Penh police chief Touch Naruth said that Devillers was arrested about two weeks ago with the co-operation of China.
He said that Cambodian authorities were considering whether to send him to China or France.
"China has demanded he be sent to China because he committed offences there," he said.
It has been reported that Devillers had close business ties with Bo, and in particular with his wife, Gu Kailai.
Gu is in detention in China over suspected involvement in the death of British businessman Neil Heywood.
Bo, the former leader of the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing, was sacked in March and is under investigation for flouting party discipline. (ANI)
