Radha Vinod Raju seriously ill

Kochi, June 19 (IANS) Radha Vinod Raju, the first chief of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), is seriously ill, according to doctors treating him at a private hospital here.

V.P. Gangadharan, medical oncologist who has been treating him for the past one year, said Raju was in the intensive care unit with partial ventilator support.

"He has been a chronic leukaemia patient and now he has a complicated lung infection. We are doing our best," said Gangadharan.

A decorated Indian Police Service officer, Raju was last month made a member of the advisory board by the Central Vigilance Commission to assist the CBI in probing cases of bank, commercial and financial frauds.
