London, June 19 (ANI): Coach Laurent Blanc has insisted that his players would prefer to go down in a blaze of glory rather than whimper out of the Euro 2012.
Blanc said he was still annoyed at the way his side was held to a one all score line by the Three Lions in their opening Group D game last week.
"The English just sat back and waited for us to come at them. But there is nothing worse than failing to achieve your objective by not playing. So if we want a result against Sweden, we need to play football," The Sun quoted Blanc, as saying.
England can only overtake the French at the top of the group if they get a better result in their clash tonight with hosts Ukraine, but Blanc is confident his team will keep their impressive 22-match long unbeaten streak going to reach the quarter-finals as group winners.
"Before we start to think about scoring a lot of goals to improve our goal difference, we first need to ensure we win the game," he said.
"We need to be very serious in the way we approach this game, as there is always a fear you will take your eye off the ball and pay the price, like we did early on in the Euro qualifiers," Blanc added. (ANI)
