Delhi cool after drizzle, Tuesday to be hotter

New Delhi, June 18 (IANS) Light showers early Monday brought relief from the scorching heat to Delhi residents with the maximum temperature coming down to 37.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below average. Tuesday will be cloudy but could see the mercury go up again.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital received 2.1 mm of rainfall till 8.30 a.m.

The minimum temperature settled at 28.2 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season. Humidity ranged between a maximum of 74 percent and a minimum of 34 percent.

"Partly cloudy sky will remain Tuesday. Thundery developments are expected in some areas," said an IMD official. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 41 and 32 degrees Celsius, respectively, added the official.

Sunday's maximum temperature was four notches above average at 43.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled five notches above average for the season at 32.7 degrees Celsius.
