Manipur ultra nabbed in West Bengal

Kolkata, June 12 (IANS) A self-styled commander-in-chief of Manipur's banned militant outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has been arrested in West Bengal's Darjeeling district, police said Tuesday.

Following a tip-off, Naorem Priyo Kumar alias Kesho Meiti was arrested from Siliguri late Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police (Siliguri) Waqar Raza said.

"He is a self-styled commander-in-chief of the KCP mobile task force," Raza said, adding that Rs.12.5 lakh cash, SIM cards, mobile phones and other documents were seized from him.

Kumar, wanted in several cases, was presented in a local court Tuesday, following which the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took him in transit remand.
