Islamabad, June 11 (ANI): The three-member probe team which arrived in Dera Ghazi Khan to arrest the Border Levies Police (BLP) involved in the alleged rape of five girls, said the men could not be arrested as there were contradictions in the statements of the victims.
The five girls, who were on a pleasure trip here, alleged that during their visit to Fort Monroe, the BLP men on the pretext of checking, took them to the Fort Monroe police station and allegedly subjected them to assaults, reports The News.
All five accused, including the three BLP men Amjad Ali, Naveed Ahmad and Mohammad Zafar are absconding.
The three BLP men, on the other hand, have denied the charges against them, saying it was a conspiracy.
"We respect women and did not commit the crime, in fact, the girls were lying," they said.
The accused BLP men said the five girls, along with two boys, were in a car when they stopped them at a check post at Fort Monroe, but the girls refused to get themselves searched. The girls' refusal led to arguments and fight between the BLP men and the boys, and, according to the BLP men, they fled the scene without being checked.
"They registered a fake case to avenge the fight," one of the accused said.
DGK Border Levies Force senior commandant and DCO Iftikhar Ali said complete security was being provided to the girls, while their medical reports would be received by tomorrow from Lahore. They said the girls have not yet disclosed their identities and their statements were full of contradictions. (ANI)
