New Delhi, June 7 (ANI): Congress Party on Thursday took potshots at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for unnecessarily dragging Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's name in the coal scam.
Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would soon come out with the truth.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party has the habit of putting baseless allegations on us. CBI is investigating the case (coal scam). We are confident that the CBI will complete its investigation and the people of the country will know the truth. Our Prime Minister is a clean and honest man and till now no one has accused him of involved in corruption," he said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had earlier this month said Team Anna raising the issue of alleged corruption in allocation of coal blocs was a "natural consequence" of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh "shying away" from replying to the opposition's demands for a clarification in Parliament.
"It is a natural consequence of the Prime Minister shying away from making a statement in Parliament when Opposition had raised the issue on the floor of the House... we are happy about it," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in New Delhi.
Veteran social activist Anna Hazare had also said he suspected whether the Prime Minister is clean after going through the CAG report on coal allocation and the file prepared by his team members.
"I have seen the papers, I have suspicion. I had always thought that he was a clean Prime Minister, but after reading the files I doubt there is something wrong," he said. (ANI)
