London, June 7 (ANI): A private island of 1.4 acre on Florida's Caloosahatchee River, has been put up for auction for an estimated price of 42,000 dollars.
The small, densely-wooded island in Fort Myers, Florida, is a 30 second boat ride away from the mainland and is up for sale for just four days as part of an online auction.
The island boasts of "breathtaking 360 degree riverfront views and proximity to luxury waterfront estate homes," people who buy it would also need a substantial amount of spare cash as the land has no buildings or utilities, the Daily Mail reported.
Under current zoning laws, the highest bidder will be able to build a single family home on the island, along with other facilities such as a boat house or dock.
According to records, the swordfish-shaped island has a "deep water access to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean."
"The auction itself is called absolute, meaning the property will sell to the highest and most successful bidder," Lamar Fisher, president of the Fisher Auction Company, who is presiding over the sale, told ABC News
The auction started on Monday at 10 am, and will be closing on Thursday at 2 pm.
While the island is very much unique in terms of its views and location, the buyer would need sufficient amount of spare cash to develop their dream riverside home.
"If you want to build a home, you'll need to put in your well, your septic, your electric. Those are your basic utilities," Fisher said.
'It truly is a virgin island. I don't think anybody has had the opportunity to sell an island like this," Fisher added.
The island has currently no name, but has the address, 14700 Island 1, Caloosahatchee River, Fort Myers, Florida, 33905.
The island is being sold on behalf of Pan American Fund LLC, who claimed it back from its previous owners in 2008. (ANI)
