50 Chinese kids 'rescued' from religious preachers
Beijing, June 6 (IANS) A total of 54 children have been "rescued" from "illegal religious preachers" in China's Muslim-dominated Xinjiang Uygur region, police said Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off from residents of Hotan city, police raided a venue where the children were being held.
Of the rescued children, 12 suffered burn injuries when the suspects ignited a flammable device to resist capture, Xinhua reported.
Three suspects were arrested, and three police officers were wounded in the operation.
