New Delhi, June 6 (ANI): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has categorically denied giving permission to Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) CMD VRS Natarajan to serve a legal notice for filing a defamation suit against General (Retd.) V.K. Singh.
The Defence Ministry has asked Natarajan to explain as to why he had made such a statement to the media.
Public sector BEML slapped a legal notice on the former army chief on June 1, and demanding an apology for his 'false and motivated' allegations against it on the Tatra truck issue.
"Legal notice has been issued today. If he does not apologize, we may file a defamation suit against Gen V K Singh," Natarajan told media in Bangalore.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had interrogated Natarajan earlier in April in connection with the controversy over the deal to supply the all-terrain Tatra trucks to the Army.
The CBI is investigating the BEML-Tatra deal following former army chief's allegations that he was offered a bribe of Rs.14 crore by a former Army officer lobbying for the truck. (ANI)
