Australia's GDP grows

Sydney, June 6 (IANS) Australia's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.3 percent in the three months to March, figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showed Wednesday.

The March quarter growth follows a revised increase of 0.6 percent in the December quarter, reported Xinhua.

The quarterly growth in GDP was more than double the 0.6 percent rise forecast for the March quarter.

Economists had been expecting GDP to grow at an annual rate of 3.3 percent in the first quarter.
