NATO, New Zealand sign cooperation deal

Wellington, June 5 (IANS) New Zealand and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation.

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key and NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen signed the Individual Partnership and Co-operation Programme Arrangement at a ceremony at NATO's headquarters in Brussels, said a statement from Key's office Tuesday.

"The relationship and engagement between New Zealand and NATO has developed considerably over the past 10 years, mainly through our involvement in the NATO-led ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) mission in Afghanistan," Xinhua quoted Key as saying.
