Nowshera (Jammu and Kashmir), June 5 (ANI): A fire engulfed a forest area in Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the destruction of flora and fauna.
Army personnel were called in to douse the flames.
"It's been 10-15 days and almost everyday, there is fire in the forest. We have to go to some place or the other everyday. There are times when we along with the defence personnel have to go as far as 10 kilometres to douse the fire," said Jamir Singh Toor, an army soldier.
Similar incidents were frequently reported from Chamoli, Gochar, and Rishikesh areas in India's northern Uttarakhand state.
The surge in the incidents of forest fire results in the destruction of natural resources and cause extensive damage to the environment. (ANI)
