'Fat cat' pay across Vodafone board likely to spark outrage among shareholders

London, June 3 (ANI): The increasing pay packages of bosses at mobile giant Vodafone are likely to spark outrage among some shareholders, amid a rising tide of anger over so-called "fat cat" pay across the board, according to a report.

Vodafone's chief executive of saw his pay package more than double from 6.6 million pounds to over 14 million pounds in 2011, including over 12 million pounds in bonuses.

Vittorio Colao, who took the helm of the firm in 2008, received a 1.1million pounds salary, more than 1 million pounds under the company's short-term incentive scheme, and 899,000 pounds in benefits and other payment.

According to The Telegraph, Colao had also received nearly 11million pounds under a long-term bonus scheme, which is due to pay-out next month.

He also collected 3.7 million pounds from an earlier bonus scheme which vested in 2010 but did not actually pay-out until last year.

Below him, Vodafone's chief financial officer, Andy Halford, also saw his pay package soar from 4.2 million pounds to 9.2 million pounds last year.

According to the paper, the bumper pay follow a strong performance by Vodafone, which is the biggest dividend payer in the FTSE. (ANI)
