Pak SC's ultimatum to Govt. to come clean on missing persons' malady in Balochistan

Islamabad, June 2 (ANI): The Pakistan Supreme Court hearing into the Balochistan target killings case, has directed the interior and defence secretaries and the principal secretary to the prime minister to discuss the recovery of missing persons, and come up with a clear statement about a solution to the problem by June 4.

According to the Daily Times, the court said the federal government was bound to assist the provincial government, and if it doesn't take action, the court would be compelled to pass an appropriate order, as the court can go any extent regarding the recovery of missing persons.

The court further asked the defence secretary to examine the missing persons matter in view of provincial Minister Sadiq Umrani's statement, in which he alleged the involvement of the Frontier Corps in the abductions.

The court also expressed displeasure over the absence of Frontier Corps Balochistan, Attorney General and Defence Secretary in the court.

The Chief Justice further said Balochistan was burning, and holding peace conferences would not lead to any solutions. He remarked that three persons were picked up in Balochistan during the SC's hearing and later their bodies were found while their cases were still underway. He said authorities should produce those responsible for the situation before the court, or FC IG Khattak would be held responsible. (ANI)
