Heat wave unabated in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh, June 1 (IANS) Haryana's Narnaul town sizzled at 47 degrees Celsius Friday as the heat wave over Haryana and Punjab continued unabated.
Met officials here said no immediate relief was in sight in the next couple of days, with temperatures likely to continue in the mid-40 degree highs.
Hissar, Rohtak and Bhiwani in Haryana recorded highs of 45.9, 45.5 and 45.2 degrees respectively.
Unscheduled power-cuts added to the misery of people in severe heat wave conditions.
In Punjab, Amritsar city, which touched a high of 47.6 degrees Thursday, recorded a lower high at 44.8 degrees.
Patiala was the hottest in Punjab at 45.6 degrees. The industrial hub of Ludhiana recorded 44.8 degrees.
Chandigarh recorded a high of 44 degrees Friday.
Met officials said that maximum temperatures at all places were four to six degrees above normal.
