U.S. says drone strikes "lawful and precise"

Washington, Wed, 30 May 2012 ANI

Washington, May 30 (ANI): U.S. Department of Defense spokesperson George Little has said the unmanned drones and its missile strikes operated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are "lawful and precise" and that they operate within the confines of American law and policy.

Little added the U.S. could provide assurances that they avoid civilian casualties "in both counterterrorism and military operations", reports The Express Tribune.

Pakistan had earlier demanded an end to drone attacks, saying the attacks are counter-productive, violate its sovereignty, kill civilians and fuel anti-US sentiment, but the U.S. argues that drone strikes are a "valuable weapon in the war against militants". (ANI)
