Bill Gates meets UP CM Akhilesh to discuss healthcare projects

Lucknow, May 30 (ANI): Microsoft founder Bill Gates met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here on Wednesday to discuss the healthcare programmes in the state, which his charitable foundation intends to sponsor.

Gates met Yadav at his official residence here along with members of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a charitable organisation that he runs along with his wife.

MLA Anupriya Patel after the meeting said that some districts had been identified by the foundation to flourish under its programme.

"Today, we had a meeting with Mr. Bill Gates and some welfare schemes in Uttar Pradesh are being invited by his foundation. The state government and his foundation want to work together on some welfare schemes and process will start from some selected districts," Patel told media about the meeting.

"Right now, we did not have such detailed discussion and the honourable Chief Minister would be in the best position to brief journalists on this meeting in detail," she added, when asked about the other issues that were discussed and whether there was any talk on investment. (ANI)
