BJP demands resignation of Gujarat Governor

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation led by its president Nitin Gadkari met President Pratibha Devisingh Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Wednesday demanding the resignation of Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal.

The BJP delegation, which submitted a petition seeking Beniwal's resignation, accused her of illegally acquiring land in Rajasthan.

BJP President Nitin Gadkari aid that Beniwal had been allotted a plot of land in Rajasthan, which was meant for the agricultural labourers.

Gadkari said that the records projected by the Registrar's office of showing her having worked as an agricultural worker are false.

"The Additional Registrar of Rajasthan, who enjoys ample judicial power has reported the fact that Kamla Beniwal, Governor of Gujarat, 41,000 day as a an agricultural worker cannot be established. It has been noted said that these reports are false," said Gadkari.

"The present commercial value of the land is 1000 crores, the Registrar has assessed that the value of the land is 600 crores," he added.

Gadkari further said hat hence it is unethical and illogical for Beniwal to remain as a Governor.

"As such it is not appropriate for her (Kamla Beniwal) to remain in the post of the Governor and it will be a disrespect to democracy and the Constitution. Therefore, she should resign from her capacity as a Governor, considering the reports presented by the Registrar in Rajasthan," said Gadkari.

"We request her to do so for the sake of the respect of democracy and the Constitution," he added. (ANI)
