Beijing, Sun, 27 May 2012 ANI

Beijing, May 27 (ANI): Blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng's brother Chen Guangfu has disappeared after escaping to Beijing.

Chen Guangfu disappeared two days after he arrived in Beijing from his highly guarded village to support his son, Chen Kegui, who has been detained on charges of attempted murder.

According to The Guardian, Kegui's arrest has become a rallying point among rights activists.

A Shandong-based lawyer Liu Weiguo said that Chen Guangfu did not return to his hotel room in Beijing on Friday night.

Chen Guangfu has become the latest target of Beijing's reprisals against Chen Guangcheng's family after the activist's escaped from house arrest.

Last week, Guangfu said that he had been chained to a chair and beaten for three days to make him reveal how his sibling had escaped from house arrest.

His son was accused of attempted murder after using knives against local officials who burst into his home a day after they discovered his blind uncle had escaped. He could face the death penalty. (ANI)
