Nay Pyi Taw, May 27 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday arrived in this Myanmar capital on a three-day official visit that will see India expanding trade and energy cooperation with the oil-rich country.
Manmohan Singh meets President Thein Sein Monday. He is scheduled to hold talks with pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi in Yangon the next day.
This is the first trip in a quarter century by an Indian prime minister to this country, which was diplomatically isolated for decades.
The prime minister is accompanied by his wife Gursharan Kaur, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and senior officials.
